Real Madrid trimmed Barcelona's lead at the top of La Liga Football League to one point secure a stirring 3-1 comeback win in the 'Clasico’. Neymar stunned a packed and hostile Bernabeu with a superb goal to give Barca a fourth-minute lead before Cristiano Ronaldo Levelled with a penalty in the 35th minute Pepe made it 2-1 six minutes into the second half and a misunderstanding between Andres Iniesta and Javier Mascherano led to Real's third just after the hour when Karim Benzema finished off a swift break with a clinical strike. Barca are on top with 22 points with real second with 21 points along with Sevilla on third with 19.

SYDNEY: SYDNEY: Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes died in a Sydney hospital on Thursday after being struck by a ball and suffering a severe head injury two days earlier."We are extremely sad to announce that Phillip Hughes has passed away at the age of 25," Cricket Australia said in a statement. "Our thoughts go out to Phillip´s family, friends, and the entire cricket community on this incredibly sad day." Hughes was struck in the head while batting in a match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday. He underwent emergency surgery and was put in an induced coma but never regained consciousness. "He was not in pain before he passed and was surrounded by his family and close friends," Cricket Australia said. "As a cricket community we mourn his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to Phillips family and friends at this incredibly sad time." Phil Hughes played 26 Tests and 25 ODIs for Australia.

BASEL: Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 71st Champions League goal as Real Madrid recorded a club record-equalling 15th consecutive win by beating FC Basel 1-0 in Switzerland in the Champions League on Wednesday. Ronaldo´s goal allowed him to move level with former Madrid striker Raul as the tournament´s second-top scorer of all time, three behind Lionel Messi, who broke the record with a hat-trick for Barcelona against APOEL on Tuesday. And the goal secured their 15th consecutive victory in all competitions, a sequence that began with a 5-1 defeat of Basel at the Santiago Bernabeu in September. (AFP)
