Barcelona (5) vs Sevilla (1)

Lewandowski was 36-year-old when he scored the goals which took him to 14 goals in 12 games in all competitions and 10 goals in the last six games for a free-scoring Bayern Munich who responded to Real Madrid’s 2-1 win against Celta Vigo at the weekend.

Barcelona, who have lost just once in nine of their opening league games, were again 3-0 up at half-time for the third game in a row after Lewandowski scored either side of Pedri’s first touch effort.

Lewandowski slotted his 24th-minute penalty calmly to the left corner of the goal after Raphinha made a theatrical dive following a slight touch from Peque Fernandez.

Pedri scored from the edge of the box only four minutes later, and Lewandowski – after nearly scoring at the end of the Andalusian combination, extremely close to the bar and which was cleared by Orjan Nyland – bagged his second goal by heading Raphinha’s pass.

Lewandowski is now the leading scorer in the last season and two goals shy of becoming the joint-second highest scoring foreign player of all time in top-five European leagues scoring as many as Jimmy Greaves jointly, with 366 goals.

Late goals from Pablo Torre and a good team performance, against a small team in which half of the starting outfield players were under the age of 21 proved too much for the Catalonian side.

Substitute Torre, 21, fired home a fourth which was deflected, and then scored with his second free-kick after the break after Idumbo got behind the Barca defense for Sevilla’s only shot on target.

There was more than the goals for the home crowd to cheer at the Olympic Stadium, which is Barcelona’s home ground when playing their home matches at Nou Camp – Gavi was given a standing ovation 11 months after he suffered a cruciate ligament tear.

Flick’s side returned to winning ways for the first time this season after their loss to Osasuna by thrashing Young Boys 5-0 in the Champions League and Alaves 3-0 in La Liga before the break in October.

Barcelona now has two massive fixtures next week; a Champions League home match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday and then an away trip to fellow title contenders Real the following Saturday.
